Pen Pals

By far one of the coolest things we have done this year.

My best friend is doing a year of service in Paraguay.
She is teaching English.
We came up with the idea to have our kids be pen pals!
It really was incredible.
Here is our last batch of letters.

Dear Jessica, Summer is coming and it is getting hot. I am 6. We are doing a play next week. I am going to Florida. Thank you for the letter. Love, Michael

Dear Deisy, It is getting warm, I hope you have fun making snow men. We are doing a play next week. We are learning about life cycles this week. Do you have a computer? Love, Hayden
P.S my name is spelled: Hayden
P.P.S: I have a lab

Dear Cynthia, I have two cats. could you teach me guarmi? I am six. Were doing a play next week. I am going to first grade. What are you learning about in math? Do you have Cats? Do you go to first grade? Love, Ryan

Me and Juan Playing Soccer (Juan is his pen pal!)
Dear Juan, I like to play soccer too. We live in Johnston Rhode Island. I am six this summer. Were graduating next week. Did you ever watch star wars? I hope you have fun. Thank you for the letter. Love, Alberto

They came up with these all on their own!
The only direction was to answer their friends questions and come up with a question of their own.
So cute and such a great experience for them!

Life Cycles

I was having some trouble coming up with a science topic for the end of the year,
so I thought about things my kids enjoyed learning about and came up with one of my new favorite units: Life Cycles!
It teaches kids about mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, and Insects.
Then there is a life cycle to go along with each.
The kids really loved it, especially since we watched so many life cycles in our classroom this year!
(Butterflies and Frogs!)
You can check out this unit on Teachers Pay Teachers.

We also did alligators, clown fish, chickens, and more!

This is another cool unit I came up with recently. I was inspired by my kids love of word searches and graphing.. so I combined the two and this is what I came up with!
Check out the sample I made: Freebie!
If your kiddos love it as much as mine, purchase the whole unit: Sight Word Find & Graph Unit
It makes a great literacy or math center!

Down By The Bay

Counting the days until summer vacation!!
We are practicing for our kindergarten graduation,
the kids are sing five green and speckled frogs, we're going on a lion hunt and down by the bay.
We have been working on some artwork for the show and I had to share.
These are our pictures for down by the bay that the kids drew.. such little artists :)

Aren't they beautiful?!
I am so proud of my little kiddos they have all grown so much this year!
They also inspired me to create a unit based on the song which I will be working on this summer :)

I'm also working on a "Monsters and Wild Things" Unit
Here's some more artwork from a listening activity based on the story Go Away Big Green Monster.
